A delightful picturebook showcasing a rhyming text April 13, 2002 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Cleverly written and nicely illustrated by Laurie Parker, The Turtle Saver is a delightful picturebook showcasing a rhyming text that tells the story in one, saga length poem, illustrated with unique color artwork in the style of paper cuttings. The long poem begins with a turtle who survives crossing the street with the help of kind-hearted motorist, continues with the flight of a dragonfly, and more in a chain of whimsical natural creatures. The Turtle Saver is a gentle book whose text-in-verse is excellent for bedtime reading to a child by a parent, as well as being highly recommended for children with good reading skills.
Save a turtle, gain grace November 22, 2002 Robert Busko (North Carolina) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A wonderful book about kindness and how a good deed spent always comes back many times multiplied. A kind motorist helps a turtle cross a road allowing the turtle to survive. That act starts a chain of other acts that ultimately come back to the motorist. This book is written as one long epic length (almost) poem that is easy to read. Enjoy this book with a child.
Heartwarming! January 2, 2003 C. Mitchell (Susquehanna Valley, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great book for children and adults alike. It shows how good deeds do, in fact, get re-paid in one way or another. I highly recommend.
Must have for all ages August 16, 2006 Mary (Indiana) The Turtle Saver is such a wonderful story. Easy to read and has a great message. Shows how all things happen for a reason and how one decision impacts those around it. We are all connected and this book is an example of how.
The Turtle Saver November 8, 2007 Judith A. Gillespie (Statesville, North Carolina, USA) This book is a life lesson for all who read or hear the words. It's great for both young and old. It makes a super book for Grandkids and one you will want to keep for yourself. It's a breath of fresh air.
